Time Out for Couples

Last Friday, Patrick and I attended Time Out for Couples in Boise. I have to say I was a little nervous that it would be sort of cheesy, and really nervous that Patrick would be rolling his eyes the whole time and that I would be paying for this for a while. But to my surprise, it was neither cheesy, nor did Patrick hate it. We both really enjoyed the whole evening. I guess I should back up a bit and explain what Time out for Couples is. I guess you could say it's kind of like a seminar for married couples. It's one night, three hours, of music and talks. I think there are different presenters at every city's event, but at ours there was one really good spiritual talk on marriage and families, given by Doug Brinley, and one really funny talk by Kim Nelson (a man) on the same subject. One of my favorite quotes from Kim Nelson was when he was talking about how men and women interpret things differently. He's talking about this and says, "Let me give you an example: am I insensitive, or emotionally consistent?" Another good one was, "Am I a couch potato, or just easily relaxed?" He was so funny. It was good to be able to laugh at some of the things that sometimes seem so unlaughable. The music was also really good. It was by Peter Breinholt. I had never heard of him before, but apparently he has a few CDs out and I may just have to get one. We had a really good time and felt renewed and uplifted at the end of the evening. If Time out for Couples comes anywhere near you, I would encourage you to look into it, and rest assured that it's not cheesy! Here's the link:
