Any Ideas...?
... For making toddler tooth brushing easier? Lately Kaiya will open her mouth for me to brush her teeth, but then she curls her little lips over her front teeth so I can't even get to them. If ever I get her to open so I can brush them, I will hardly have the toothbrush in her mouth before she turns her head and clamps it shut. We bought her a cute pink toothbrush and some of that toddler toothpaste in hopes that she would enjoy it more, and even try to let her do it herself for a little while before I start, but we haven't had much luck. I'm afraid her teeth are going to be rotten and she'll be one of those kids with all the silver front teeth. If anyone has any ideas on how to get your child to let you brush their teeth, PLEASE HELP!!

I like the new back ground! Hmmm, teeth brushing is tricky. You can do it the hard hard way - use your legs to pin her arms and keep her head straight and shove the tooth brush in her mouth :). Some other more enjoyable ideas may be... you can try different things like playing hide and seek with the teeth - "where are those teeht?" etc., or say that you are going to tickle her teeth. I always make Mia let me brush her tongue so I'll tell her to stick out her tongue - she thinks that's fun for some reason. Really no matter what you do it's just not easy!!
miracle eczema product: prescription Desonide Cream. Gabriela's face cleared up by the next day!
p.s. I have a really old thank you card with your name on it, but no address. email me, girlfriend!!
Lets see... Drew loves brushing her teeth with me. We'll brush ours at the same time. I'd also use her toothbrush like 'I'm gonna get you' and every time she'd smile and quickly brush. Then the last thing I can think of is making noises. I'd say 'eeeee' and she'd copy. Then I'd say 'awwww' and she'd copy. And I could brush her teeth. But I feel your pain. Drew would bite down hard on the brush and I could never move it. Good Luck!
Cute blog!
Try giving her a hand held mirror so she can watch what you're doing. I don't know! Ethan was pretty tricky for a while too. You just keep doing it everyday and they eventually get the picture. Besides, the baby toothpaste doesn't have floride anyways so it's really not going to clean the teeth super well. I think as long as you're getting her started on learning how you're doing your best right? I've learned you cannot force a kid to do anything. Although I still try :)
ps this is really Traci
Hi Crystal sorry I haven't commented in a while but I had a friend give me great advice about this and Emma loves to brush teeth now (she actually asked for it throughout the day) Get a toothbrush that you don't mind her playing with and let her use it as a toy. Like to start off let her walk around the house with it (supervised of course) and let her just chew on it. If she's like Emma she will think she a big girl. And when I brush my teeth in the morning I give her her toothbrush so that she can copy what I am doing. Then at night I give it to her again (first without the toothpaste) and let her brush with it then I say "mamas turn" put some toothpaste on and brush as much as she'll let me then we just take turns. Teaches her to brush her own teeth and take turns at the same time. Hope this helps, good luck!
Try singing the Brush Your Teeth song- the one that goes.... When you wake up in the morning and it's quarter to 1 what do you do? You brush your teeth (make brushing noise and brush her teeth at this point)....
Then go onto to 2 and 3 and so on. This worked everytime when I babysat!
