Sittin' Pretty

Guess who's sitting up? Kaiya started doing her newest trick last Tuesday, and is getting better and better every day. She loves to sit and play, but gets pretty upset if she falls down. She'll cry, but only as long as she's on the ground. The second I pick her up to the sitting position again she's happy. I think it's absolutely adorable and I love playing with her this way. So cute!

Race Day!!

Last Saturday we did the St. Luke's Women's Fitness Celebration Race/walk. Despite a little morning rain we finished the three mile event and didn't even come in last (we started out dead last, due to the fact that Kaiya decided she needed to nurse right when they let our group start). Kaiya didn't want to ride in the stroller the whole time, or much of the time at all, so I ended up carrying her in the front pack for much of the way. But she did pretty well for her first 5k. Overall it was really fun and we hope to do it again next year!

The Pumpkin Patch!

Last week we went to a corn maze and pumpkin patch. The last time I went through a corn maze was with my college roommates, and it was a haunted corn maze. I hate those! Just the thought that someone could be following you around in the dark and could sneak up on you any second isn't fun for me. So this one was much better, as it was daylight and not at all "haunted". Patrick carried Kaiya in the front pack and she enjoyed it for the most part, except when we would stop to find our way. But once she discovered the corn leaves she didn't mind so much. But I'm pretty sure her favorite part was licking the maze map (why do babies prefer trash to the real, expensive toys we buy for them?) We picked lots of pumpkins to decorate for Halloween with. Can you tell I'm excited for the holidays this year? After living in Japan last year and being the only ones to celebrate our traditional US holidays, we are looking forward to lots of festive decorations and food this year.

A Trip to the Museum

Actually, it was a trip to an old penitentiary, which is now a museum. But it had other exhibits too. Like this one of old wagons and carriages that we are standing in front of. It was actually really interesting and we hope to go back sometime when Kaiya is in a better mood.

Kaiya is 5 Months Old!

Last Tuesday was Kaiya's five month birthday. These are the pictures we took. She wasn't very happy that day, so even though i took probably 50 pictures these are the best of the best. Still cute though I think. We also restarted her on cereal, which she still doesn't like, but she's a much more willing participant if I let her hold the spoon herself. I should put pictures of that on here.... It gets pretty messy, but at least she eats some of it that way. She's getting bigger and doing more things every day. She's already growing up way too fast!

Look What Kaiya Can Do!!

She needs a little help with her balance, but what a big girl!!

In the Last Month...

In the last month Kaiya has developed a lot of new abilities as well as experienced a lot of "firsts". Here are a few pictures of what she's been up to:

She likes her new jumper, as long as she can lick the ropes
Her hair has grown quite a bit
Just looking cute
Relaxing
Playing with the dogs

Rolling from tummy to back (this picture is mid roll)

Drinking water from a cup

Exploring the grass

Other new things Kaiya has been up to: trying to suck her thumb, getting shots :( , pinching (me), taking walks, reading books (Mr. Brown can Moo is her favorite), and just being cute. It's been a busy month!

Yum!! Rice cereal!!

Here's a video of Kaiya's first try of solid foods. She took it pretty well for the first time, however every day after that she refused it and cried, so we're off solids again for a week or two. but the pictures and video are so cute I thought i would put them up anyway, even though she's not an official solids eater yet:)

A Long Time Coming...

So we took a little sabbatical from blogging... but we're back! I want to write about all the things I have been meaning to blog and didn't, but that would take too long. So here are some of Kaiya's four month pictures, even though the five month mark is fast approaching. Isn't the stretch so cute?
